To Infinity and Beyond Resale: A Design Sprint for The Toy Store App
Remember that feeling of unearthing a forgotten treasure in the attic? That spark of joy when a beloved toy from your childhood resurfaces? The overwhelming childhood memory flood you have for 15 minutes? Then eventually you pack everything back up into that box where your toys have been waiting for years?

Just like Andy, (from the Toy Story) wouldn’t it feel great to give your toys a second chance at playtime? This case study dives into the world of pre-loved toys, where playtime gets a second chance!
The problem statement
This is the prompt generated through this challenge! You can sign up for this challenge here!https://www.radnolan.com/70rad
This little design sprint includes:

1.  A simple user flow
2.  The onboarding screens
3.  2 user flows (developed into UI screens)

That’s pretty much it, Since this is targeted for people trying to learn how this works, It is structured in a way that it doesn’t become overwhelming.
Why this project? (I don’t want to give my toys away)

It is common for kids to get toys on their birthdays, festivals, holidays or as gifts for their achievements. But being realistic, how many of these toys are played with? According to the plastic box shop,

By the age of 5, parents have bought about 190 toys for their child.
By the age of 9, 342 toys.
And by the age of 13, 493 toys.

This isn’t an uncommon sight. Research revealed a shocking truth: the average playtime for a new toy is a mere 36 days! (source: my green pod)

Not only this, children tend to lose interest on their birthday toys in about 11 hours.
Children end up with more toys than they could ever need throughout their childhood. These toys end up in a box somewhere in your house waiting to be played with.
In total, 61% of toys are unplayed with, that's about 27 toys being neglected at any given time. These are birthday toys, Christmas presents and no reason toys being forgotten about. Around 35% of the toys are forgotten about within a month.
These toys end up in boxes, on shelves, in trash bags, collecting dust. Waiting to be played with
Nearly 80% of toys end up in landfills. This is just sad.
Thankfully, there’s a glimmer of hope! Over 73% of parents are open to the idea of buying pre-loved toys for their children. This is a fantastic sign! Yet, a disconnect exists: only half (53%) of parents have ever donated their child’s outgrown toys.

This design sprint was based around the idea of people being able to put up their toys up for sale, to create a circular economy for toys!
There are people looking for places and platforms that allow them to resell their toys.
Here comes the design for resale platform! For the user flows, I chose to:

1.  Design the screens where people are able to browse for toys.
2.  Design the screens where people are able to put their toys up for sale.

Along with this, I made a simple user journey map.
Here is the link for the figjam file if you want to look at this in detail!
Next, some rough wireframing and blurting out ideas to help me develop this idea into something visual! Here is the rough wireframes for the design!
This is a rough skeleton for the buyer’s feed to show them the toys available according to the filters put up by them
These frames show the process of putting up a toy for sale through this app. Thorough surveys and details allow the toy to be listed better!
And here is the color palette being used for this project:
And finally, here are the screens for this project!
Firstly, let us look at the onboarding sequence!
Just a brief introduction to what the product is about!
Next, Let us look at the buyer’s feed!
(I am skipping the login sequence, I wanted to focus more on the toy-buy-sell part)
Now, the seller’s feed!
That’s about it!
This was my first documentation / Case study! Do let me know your thoughts and feedbacks!
And show some love by liking this story!

I’m always up to discuss design and anime, lol!
Cheers!
